Nighthawk Introduction Sharing Member & Introductions

It has been a LONG, tiring day. At lunchtime, my wife called me up to tell me she thought she had broken her ankle. Seems she was coming down the stairs to answer the door, and missed the bottom stair before the landing. When she fell, her foot folded under her.

She knew it was the neighbor at the door, so yelled for her to come in. Then she called me.

I took her into the emergency room. We got there at about noon. It was after 6:00 before they got a splint put on her, and almost 8:00 before they got her into a room for the night. She will have surgery tomorrow to install a plate and several pins. All three major bones in her ankle are broken.

Then I get on here and see that there is a contest going on, concerning planes, trains, and boats. Now, since I am interested in just about everything, but especially manufacturing and engineering, I think I could really blow Smudge and LDS away. Even more so if JB had included automotive stuff. I could start all kinds of topics about automobile transmissions, from manufacturing techniques to what different parts of the transmission do. Then I could go off into some discussion about various type of jet engines, how turbines are built, some of the specifications of aerospace gears, etc. We could always talk about shipbuilding techniques of various ages, couldn't we? How about the strengths of various types of wooden ships, or the strategic uses of various military ships?

However, I am very tired. And I expect to spend most of the day tomorrow in the hospital. So, you two have fun with this contest.

Nighthawk, sorry about your wife, that must have made her cry. Maybe a blessing from you may help if you have not already done that. Now on the lighter side, Nighthawk, you always seem to wiggle out of these things except for the Arcade. Do not worry, there will be others in the future and we will see if your excuse will be good enough then?

I can't believe they made you wait all that time to be taken care of!! Oh, man, that's almost as bad as the injury itself.

That sounds just horrible! I am so sorry that that happened to your dear wife. I bet that hurt a lot. Good luck tomorrow, Nighthawk. I enjoyed our conversation earlier. I hope that everything goes well in the surgery and that she will not have to feel much pain afterwards. Let us know how everything went. We will all be wanting to know.

Nighthawk, I just want to add my voice to the others. How sad about your wife's ankle. That sounds like a pretty bad injury. I, too, will keep her in my prayers. Be sure to take good care of her.

My thanks to all of you. I got to sleep in this morning, a little bit, because I am not going in to work, obviously. I was going to take the children to school, but we just found out that all the schools are closed because of another snowstorm that came in during the night.

Anyway, I won't be on the forum all day, since I will spend most of it in the hospital again.
