Introduction Nighthawk

Yesterday seemed to be the day for broken ankles. A woman at work fell and broke hers last night. They had to put pins in as well. She is 7 or 8 months pregnant to boot!

I hope your wife's surgery was a success and that she has a quick and complete recovery.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

It wasn't so much that the wait was long, it took us about 1 1/2 hours to get into a room, then it took over an hour to get the x-rays done. There were apparently lots of broken bones, due to the weather.

After that, we had to wait for an orthopedic surgeon to check the x-rays, then for them to schedule surgery, then they had to convince Mrs. NightHawk to stay the night in the hospital. She kept refusing. Finally, they wore her down. After that they had to put a "splint" on her. Finally, they were ready to move her.

Anyway, the surgery went well. She seems to be doing quite well tonight, and is raring to come home tomorrow.

Her greatest concern is how she is going to get to school next week.

I am so glad that everything went well. Tell her for me that the most important thing right now is her recovery, that she does not have to worry about anything else. God bless.

Glad to hear the surgery went well. My goodness, how can she even think of going anywhere yet?? The pain has to be just awful. You'll have to tie her to her chair, Nighthawk wink.gif Get her a laptop and let her log on to the Forum laugh.gif That should keep her occupied for a little bit, ya think?

Nighthawk Introduction

Oh, that must be a relief that the surgery did go well. Mrs. Nighthawk is definitely in my prayers, too. I hope she has some help when she gets home, she will probably need it, and that you guys can get some meals while she is recovering. If I lived near you, I would bring you a beef pot roast, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy, corn, salad, warm bread (are you getting hungry yet?? laugh.gif), homemade raspberry freezer jam, and chocolate cake. After all, you guys could probably use a little chocolate therapy, eh? laugh.gif (putting serious cap back on) I'm sure she doesn't want to, but if this is the beginning of a semester, could she back out? Maybe someone can get assignments for her? It will all work out. Well, hope everything goes smoothly getting your wife checked out of the hospital and snuggled in at home. Take care. smile.gif

I am glad the surgery went well and that she is feeling well enough to be ready to come home. How long is the expected recovery to take? Once the bones heal, is she going to require a lot of therapy or will the cast come off and she be raring to go? My advice is do whatever exercises you are given at least as often as instructed and all will be well. Take care.

Actually, she isn't in any pain. The breaks were very simple, and there was hardly anything to setting the bones.

She is concerned because she is only three or four semesters from finishing her B.A. in Sociology, and we have already received her student loans (and mostly spent them) for this semester.

I wrote to both of her professors yesterday. One has responded so far, with a positive response.

We are going to see if we can get a wheelchair for her to get around campus with. She will probably use crutches in the house.

She can't put any weight on the foot at all for the next 4 to 6 weeks. Then she will get various sorts of walking casts for the following couple of months.

Anyway, we are really going to have to take over the housekeeping duties. The children aren't very happy about that idea, and are probably going to moan and groan a lot, but that is too bad.

Well, I have to go get her in an hour or so. Right now, I have to take the little children to school.
