Nighthawk Introduction - Page 29

Actually, it is that my wife is temporarily disabled. In early January, she stumbled on a step in our house, and broke three bones in her ankle. She had surgery the next day, where they put in a plate and two screws.

Yesterday, we went to the doctor, and he told her to start walking more, even to go without any sort of brace at all a little bit in the house. She is supposed to use a small brace when generally walking around now, except for the next couple of weeks while we try to climb out of this icebox known as Michigan. (Yes, Malexander, I know what it is like where you are, but at least you expect winter to last until June 15 there!)

Anyway, my wife is getting up and about more. Things are looking up!

Introduction Nighthawk

It's been kind of interesting this week. I had to go out of town, to Indianapolis, for a day and a half of meetings. As usual, I didn't sleep well in the hotel, so fought sleepiness throughout the day, despite the fact that I was basically in charge of the meetings!

When I got home, my new computer was here! Yeeehaaawww!

Mac iBook G4. OS X.

I'm still learning how to use the new operating system, and the single button mouse (with no scroll wheel). Some very interesting new programs, and I haven't even started playing with Unix yet.

But the pure white computer, with the glowing Apple symbol on the outside, is incredibly beautiful.

As my son says, "Good times in a bucket!" (Whatever that means.)

Nighthawk, you are just a show-off! However, I do hope the Community looks the same in an Apple as it does in an 'IBM-compatible'. wink.gif

Nighthawk, why did you buy a mac rather than a windows based PC? In general, it is likely to make life more difficult for you because of compatibility issues with others, won't it. Please tell me you didn't buy it because you like the color. That is something I would do for sure. In fact, I almost did choose based upon color when I bought my new MP3 player last week. laugh.gif

I REALLY know the difference. We have a desktop computer in the front room with WinXP, two laptops with XP, and even an old computer with DOS and Win 3.11.

I don't know of anything at all that I would want to do that I can't do on my Mac. I have even found an open source CAD program.

I used to have the same attitude about Macs. But that doesn't apply anymore, not now that OS X is out which is a full implementation of Unix, with a great interface.

The great color is just a bonus.
