Nighthawk Introduction - Page 41

I understand how easy it is to become emotionally involved in certain topics. I get like that in real life over certain issues. Sometimes it's hard to not be emotional over something you feel so passionate about. On top of that, sometimes it's hard to interpret other peoples' attitudes and true meanings behind their words.

I hope you do decide to stay. I enjoy reading your posts. You're one of the members around here who always seems to come up with a unique perspective on topics being discussed.

Whatever the decision you make, I wish you the best!

You can't possibly just... just leave us! I know that you get fired up over some of the topics, and I understand. But we love you, my friend, and it just wouldn't be the same here without you!

As LDS_Forever said... take a deep breath (or several), and try to keep things in perspective.

Take care,
Roz

I'm still here, but definitely not going to be very active. I will no longer get drawn into the debates about using guns to protect and defend, whether or not the Palestinian Arabs are great people, etc.

My worldview on these subjects is rather simple. The rights to life, liberty, and property are fundamental to all human beings. Any government, organization, law, regulation, religion, or anything else that seeks to subvert or destroy these rights is not good. So, when a person tries to convince me that I should just roll over and let my liberty be taken away without a fight, I tend to respond. When someone tries to tell me that the US is worse than the Palestinians, or Saddam Hussein, or Iran, or anyone else in the areas of human rights, protection of liberty, etc, I tend to get a bit emotional.

So, I have basically decided to let others have the last word. My depression is just enough on the edge that if I get too involved in an emotional debate, I find it beginning to overwhelm me.

I have come to understand that I do suffer also from a bit of anxiety. It isn't like my wife's or daughters'. When I begin to suffer from anxiety, I can't stand much loud noise, my shoulders feel like they are holding up a brick wall, and I feel like my nerves are made of piano wire stretched to the breaking point. Every sound, even if it is mild, feels like it vibrates through every nerve in my body, causing the wire to feel even more tense.

I found, over the last couple of weeks, that responding to some topics here left me feeling this way. So, I doubt that I will pay much attention to the responses of some people, nor will I respond at all to some topics.

BTW, one of the best areas of discussion for me lately has been when I was responding to Konqererz's questions about the LDS organization and beliefs concerning callings. I found it soothing to be able to explain some of those things.

Very sorry to hear that things are hitting as hard as they are. You were one of the reasons I stayed on the forum. Its rare on the web to find people that disagree with me that are as knowledgable as you are (not saying others here aren't as well! Thats certainly not the case.). But one must prioritize and take care of whats most important. Decidedly, your health is more important than discussing stressful issues, and the forum shouldn't be a burden and make life harder. Since I have lots more LDS questions, I'll make sure to keep a steady pace if it will keep you posting! laugh.gif Hope things become easier, your in my thoughts.

Nighthawk Introduction

I must say that I have been still enjoying reading your posts and am glad you have not found yourself having to leave. I hope everything is still going ok and that it gets even better as time goes on. I also noticed that you have not yet completed your second attempt in the pac-man tournament. It would be awesome if we could go head to head for the top spot. Best wishes for the Holidays and God Bless!

Yes, I am still here, although I am not reading even a very high percentage of posts. I am attempting to not reply directly to those who keep attacking my principles, my country, and my beliefs. I hope that I don't get too sarcastic in my observations about certain segments of society, if I do, please let me know, and I will immediately delete any offending post.

I will keep offering what I believe are interesting, thought provoking quotes and news articles, on a few particular subjects. But then, I can see that my quotes and articles aren't very welcome by some people, either.

Oh well, you can't please everyone. Can't even please myself by allowing my true opinions to come out. I have to keep a tight lid on a whole bunch of opinions and feelings.
