Nighthawk, I just wanted to give you a bit of support, and to say that it makes a refreshing change for someone to say what they believe in, and stand up and be counted.I have read quite a few threads with your postings on, (including my own) and you have always stated to the point of what you believe in, but in a non-confrontational way. If others cannot cope with this, then it is them that have the problem and not you.
(I must admit, I can only look at some of these topics, I don't feel I have enough knowledge to participate) ie--politics, but admire those who do.

Hope your talk went well today, you'll probably feel a lot better for doing it.

Nighthawk, it is great to see you around the boards. I learn so much from your posts. You and I both know there have been strong personalities on the forum in the past, and somehow we managed to get through those. Like JB said, there are those on the internet who seem to be very strong in their opinions, to the point of disregarding other's feelings. We just need to know when to pick our battles, and when to leave well enough alone.

Yes, the talk seemed to go over well. My wife even told me that I wasn't boring today. Big improvement.

I did have several people stop me and comment that they never knew that we had lived in so many places or experienced so much. Maybe I made some sort of impact.

Malexander, I it isn't so much that it is a strong personality, but that this person openly shows contempt for my beliefs and culture, then jumps all over me anytime I speak of general tendencies in other cultures. Oh, well. Maybe I will try once again to get involved here. It is hard at times though.

Nighthawk, I think I understand what you are feeling and I think the decision of not reading the threads of one or two members may be a wise move. Sometimes when we feel we are "losing" the battle, we are winning instead. It is really up to us to develop that self-control that will enable us not to feel offended, not allowing it to bother us. For some reason we think the other person is the one to change and yes, sometimes the person needs to but when we see that it is not happening then is when we need to decide (for own "sanity") what should be done. I do not want to sound preachy but you have the Gospel in your life, what a wonderful opportunity this is to develop self-mastery and test your limits of patience and long suffering! I know because I am going through something similar with a person and I know it is not easy but hang in there.

Nighthawk, based on this article there is plenty work in Utah. It is not supposed to be so hard to get a job there since you are already a US citizen. If I was one, I would be making my suitcases

I know that there is work there, I have applied for many jobs. However, I am not getting any response back! The one job that I did interview for didn't work out, despite the fact that I was extremely well qualified for the position.

We WILL be moving out west, even if we have to do it ourselves. The worst case now would be that we don't move until late spring of 2007.
