Nighthawk Introduction - Page 56

Nighthawk, I was waiting for you to delete them but I could not wait too long, I had to erase them quick...call THAT anxiety *laughs*

I'm glad to hear your wife is feeling better, I can just imagine the stress that you all are dealing with although you sound very optimistic and excited! I wonder if all the recent talks on politics have made your day? Nah, most of the time Bush is critized, so how THAT can make your day? wink.gif

All the best my friend!

Introduction Nighthawk

I'm finally getting around to answering your post #98237 It is really interesting to me that there are two people on the forum that I totally agree with, one on religion, the other on politics. I read one's politics (yours) the other's religious views and I also spend a lot of time biting my tongue. There are some liberals that you will never convince in a million years with all the common sense and facts at your command that simple common sense and conservatism is the answer.

On the other hand, I have talked face to face with people that get blank stares, their eyes get big as silver dollars, and they walk away saying, "No, No, No" when I tell them what I found in the Bible they claim to read every day.

So I have found it is easier most of the time to stay in an area where most people agree with me on religion, but there are times when I just can't stay out of liberals politics. rolleyes.gif

Don't ever stop posting. Sane people are badly needed in this crazy world.

Life and trying to Live

A couple of weeks ago, my car blew a spark plug out of the head - again. It was the same one that blew out last summer. We tried to fix it, it blew out again. Took it to a mechanic, he fixed it, twice. It blew out again. I can't afford to replace the whole head right now, nor buy another car.

Last Wednesday, I ended up coming home from work, sick. Just plain felt miserable, light fever, some cold symptoms. Felt wonderful on Thursday and Friday.

On Sunday, I went to church, but left after only 30 minutes. I was feeling miserable again. So, I stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up some cold medicine and vitamins, then headed home. About a mile from Wal-Mart, just after getting on the freeway, my car blew the spark plug out again. I limped home, and parked it out of the way. Then I felt completely miserable for the rest of the day.

Yesterday, I tried to go to work. I didn't last long, I felt even worse than on Sunday. I came home and slept for 5 hours. Then I went back to bed a little before 8:00, and slept through the night. So, a total of 21+ hours of sleep within 48 hours, and I still was wiped out all day.

So, because of all that, and the fact that I am only slightly better than yesterday, my participation on the forum is horribly lacking. I couldn't work up the ambition to answer any of konquererz' posts in detail, just tossed off a very few quick replies.

Being completely by myself for the last 6 weeks hasn't helped either. My wife and 3 youngest children will be here this weekend, which I am really looking forward to. After the Thanksgiving holiday, my wife, middle son, and youngest daughter will go back to Michigan for my son to finish the current semester of school. They will move out here in December.

My youngest son will stay here, along with Oberon, the monster dog. At least there will be someone here for me to talk to.

Oh well. Try to keep on with life.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that you have been feeling sick. It sounds like you are getting some sort of virus. I hope you feel better soon. I know it must be hard to be away from your family so long! I would miss them terribly if I was in a similar situation. Just cheer up, they will be home soon and you will also have big Oberon running up and down and destroying everything on his path. *laughs*

Make sure to get a blessing if you are feeling too sick and drop me a note anytime if you feel to chat with someone, maybe we can get into some deep discussions about Church History. wink.gif

All the best,
LDS

Introduction Nighthawk

Sorry you are feeling bad, Nighthawk - but glad to hear that Mrs. Nighthawk and kids (and dog) will be coming out to be with you for the next week or so. That's got to be a good thing!

Other than being sickly lately, are you enjoying Nebrask? How's the job going?

Nighthawk Introduction

So far, I love Nebraska. It is flat around here, because we are in the Platte River Valley. but if we go north or south about 15 miles, we are in hills. It is very "small town" around here. Most people in town are related one way or another. My next door neighbors are brother and sister to another couple, with whom I work. That is, two brothers married two sisters.

The wife next door, works on one of the assembly lines that I am responsible for. Her brother-in-law is the engineering technician who is letting me borrow his van. His wife also works in the plant. Another of his brothers does as well. Her cousin is the payroll administrator.

My boss' wife works on the packing line that I "own". His cousin also works there. His son and daughter have worked in the plant. I could go on and on.

I have talked to the inside sales lady at the telephone company a couple of times. When I stopped by to pick up a couple of parts, she knew who I was.

In other words, when my children get here, I will have about 4000 babysitters, since everyone knows everything about what is going on in town. (That can be bad as well as good!)

As for my work, I love it. I am very involved in the actual processes now. I have modified tooling, and designed new tooling. I can actually take a piece of metal, and modify it myself, if I want to. I troubleshoot machines, processes, and parts. I am responsible for keeping the lines running, producing quality parts, and improving them where possible.

What more could a manufacturing engineer want?

So far, I am feeling better this morning. I will see how long that lasts.

Wow, Nebraska sounds like a place that everybody knows everybody, that can be a little scary sometimes. wink.gif

There is a saying I heard recently:

The thing about living in a small town is that if I don't know what I'm doing, someone else always does.

Sounds like you've found a nice community to live in, Nighthawk. That makes me glad. I hope your family will enjoy it also!
