I was really touched by a post on one of my favorite blogs today. CPT Patti is serving in Iraq, in the 1st Armored Division. Her husband, living in Germany, is a retired Lt. Col. and writes about the Captains adventures, and what is really happening in Iraq.
So, this post is mostly for tenaheff, Farseer, and those others who really support our troops.
Please read
this letter from a Marine Lt. currently serving in Ramadi, Iraq. Due to the pernicious effects of US and world media, who seem to hang on every word of Al Jazeera, and disregard the clear testimony of thousands of honorable military members, our troops are beginning to feel that the false message is the one that people are paying attention to.
One of Tim's (the author of the
blog) points is:
QUOTE |
Soldier after Soldier after Marine have been quoted (ironically) in the local press that the news media are telling the worst possible version of the story. CPT Patti has told me that her Soldiers were thrilled to get TV...only to become rapidly disgusted at the news they stopped watching it. |
When I served in Saudi Arabia, we had access to CNN. We were all disgusted by the antics of the traitor, Peter Arnett, when he consistently reported that the US was purposely targeting civilian targets. The worst one was when he reported on the bombing of a "baby milk" factory. The sign in front of the factory still had paint dripping on it from the quick staging of the propaganda piece.
There were 50 lb paper bags filled with "baby milk" that were supposedly thrown over 20 feet from a bomb blast, landing across a conveyor, without a mark or tear on them, let alone being burst by the impact (50 lb bags of baby milk powder? who buys in that form?).
The thing is, the same thing is happening now. Our troops deserve better than they are getting. We have Andy Rooney on "60 Minutes" trying to convince the nation that they aren't "heroes" but are, rather, "victims". I'm sorry, but Pat Tillman really was a hero. He gave up what most people would kill for, in order to serve his country, following principle that he believed in.
We keep hearing that the US is involved in another "Vietnam", a quagmire. The only quagmire is the one that the Left and its pet, the mainstream media, is getting itself in. Freedom isn't free, and liberty demands a very high price. Peace isn't the absence of war, it is the presence of real liberty. The Left wants us to take the easy road to a false "peace" that requires submission to evil. The evil declared war on us in the 1970s, starting with Munich, and moving on from there. It took the murder of 3000 people to point out to some that although we thought we weren't at war, our enemy certainly figured we were. Now we are, and our troops need our support.
Read what Tim has to say. Then join me in fighting this war.
This post is my first real salvo.
