Office industrial vacancies continue rise

The vacancy rate for both office and industrial space climbed over the past three months, according to Cushman & Wakefield?s quarterly report.The vacancy rate for office space was 20.5 percent for the second quarter. That?s up from 19.9 percent for the first quarter and 19 percent for the fourth quarter of 2012. The recent increases come after vacancy rates had been declining since 2009, when they peaked at 25.1 percent.Industrial vacancy was 10 percent for the second quarter, up from 9.6 percent for the first quarter and 7.7 percent in the quarter before that.

JEA Clay Move Up In Utility Rankings

JEA isn?t at the bottom anymore, and Clay Electric Cooperative is still near the top.Last year, in J.D. Power?s electrical utility residential customer satisfaction survey, JEA was ranked last of the 31 in the south region?s 31 mid-sized utilities.In this year?s survey, which was released Wednesday, JEA had moved up to 21 of 31. It?s improvement from a index of 589 to 640 was the most of the 126 utilities in the survey.Clay Electric Cooperative also moved up, from fifth to third in the same category.

Jacksonville Ranks 37 In Top 50 Hard-working Cities In U.S.

Jacksonville is pretty hard-working, especially when it comes to being compared to other Florida cities.In a new list out of many lists that ranks cities for various lifestyle factors, movoto.com found that Jacksonville ranked 37th in the top 50 cities in the country for being the hardest working. Before the local chambers of commerce get their hackles up, it might come as a comfort that only one other Florida city, Miami, made the top 50. Miami finished 28th on the list.

Jacksonvilles ParkerVision Ends Sale Of Stock Raises About $13 Million

Jacksonville-based ParkerVision, Inc., Wednesday announced the closing of its sale of millions of shares of common stock.
There were 3.68 million shares of stock sold at $3.80 per shares sold to accredited investors. The sale of the common shares started last week and generated net proceeds of $13 million for the company, a news release from ParkerVision said Wednesday.
ParkerVision is a company that develops and sells technology for uwe with wireless communications and mobile communications networks.
