Hallmark Partners, which is already building a large apartment and retail complex on Riverside Avenue, is planning a 16-story condominium building on the river in Riverside.Alex Coley, principal with Hallmark, said that his company will close Thursday on the 1.4-acre parcel where the Shepherd Agency now sits at 500 Bishopgate Lane, one block from the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens.Called Beacon Riverside, the building will have 55 units. It will use a land-use approval that allowed 80 units and has been in place for the property since 2006, Coley said.

Atlantis Block In Jacksonville Beach Sells To Developer For $3.5 Million

One of only two full blocks of empty oceanfront land in Jacksonville Beach has been sold. The sale of the 1.32-acre block just north of the Casa Marina Hotel was finalized Tuesday for $3.5 million, said Cord Butler of The Cordell Group.Butler said his understanding is that the buyer, the KABR Group of Ridgefield, N.J., will keep the property known as Atlantis for future development. But he expected that would come in the next few years, and he had an idea what it might be.?Condos do seem to be the highest and best use,? he said.

Scott was stumping for support for his proposal to cut Florida?s budget while returning more to the state?s businesses and families. He?s framing his approach as a break for the taxpayers following a projected tax-revenue surplus.?With a budget surplus, we should give some money back to the people. It?s their money,? Scott said.

Wells Fargo To Lay Off 17 In Jacksonville 1865 Nationally

Wells Fargo will lay off 17 employees in Jacksonville and 1,865 nationwide, the bank announced Wednesday afternoon. The layoffs are in the mortgage fulfillment group, and a spokeswoman said it was due to a continuing decline in refinancing.Last month, Wells Fargo announced that 95 people in Jacksonville and 2,300 across the country were being laid off in the same department.The layoffs come in the bank?s Deerwood Center offices and don?t affect the 375 downtown in the Wells Fargo Center.The employees are being given a 60-day notice, the spokeswoman said.
