Amazon is making a bid to enter living rooms with Amazon Fire TV, a new streaming device that delivers online video, music and other content to televisions.The company says the $99 device has better speed, performance and search functions than other streaming boxes such as Apple TV and Google Chromecast. But Amazon is coming late to the streaming device game, and it remains to be seen whether the company is offering enough new and better services to lure customers away from their current streaming methods.

There?s precious little of the old grandeur left in the Barnett National Bank building.The huge windows that line Adams and Laura streets are still there, though they?re going to have to be taken out and the glass replaced. And much of the exterior still looks like it did when it opened in 1926, though some of the stonework and cornices are gone.But inside, there?s lots of rusting metal and peeling paint.

Recently obtained e-mails suggest that a failed plan to build a Baker County ball park complex using a land swap between Oldcastle and DuPont involved at least one company after all.After the Times-Union reported the plan, both Oldcastle and DuPont vehemently denied any connection to it.?This was news to us,? DuPont spokesperson Tara Stewart said. ?We?ve never heard anything about [it]...We don?t want people to think that we?re part of some shady deal to get Oldcastle sand-mining rights.?Oldcastle also denied involvement with the plan.

Marcus Lemonis, the investor planning to transform the Springfield candy store, said he has a verbal contract to buy the long-vacant Seminole Club.He said he expects to sign the contract on Friday for the 111-year-old building on Hogan Street, across the street from City Hall and Hemming Plaza.

A 14-screen movie theater is coming to Oakleaf Station at the western end of Argyle Forest Boulevard.Toney Sleiman, owner of Sleiman Enterprises and the shopping center, said construction will start this summer with opening planned for early next year.It will be a part of the Epic Theatres chain, a privately held company based in DeLand. The theater will feature a larger auditorium with a 65-foot-wide curved screen with Dolby digital sound.?We?ve been looking for an area in Jacksonville,? Epic President Frank DeMarsh said. ?And this fit nicely.?

Duke Energy Florida Plans To Scrap Coal Power Plants Switch To Natural Gas

TALLAHASSEE | Continuing a series of major changes, Duke Energy Florida said it plans to build a $1.5 billion natural-gas power plant in Citrus County while also shutting down two old coal-fired generating units.Duke, the state?s second-largest electric utility, indicated last year that it was likely to move forward with such a plan. But the announcement this week comes after other high-profile changes that have included shuttering a damaged Crystal River nuclear plant and scrapping plans to build two nuclear reactors in Levy County.
