National mortgage delinquencies fall month-to month, but rise year-to-year

Mortgage delinquency rates edged up nationwide in June by 2.4 percent from the month previous, but fell by nearly 15 percent from June 2010, LPS Applied Analytics reported today.
Of all home loans in the U.S. a little more than 8 percent were 30 days late or more past due but not yet in foreclosure, according to the LPS ?Mortgage Monitor? report. Some 4.12 percent of U.S. homes are listed as being in foreclosure inventory, but not yet sold, up two-tenths of a percent from May. Year-over-year, the amount of homes that have foreclosed but are not yet sold is up by nearly 13 percent.

1911-2011: Real estate veteran E. Davis Burner dies at 99

Longtime Jacksonville real estate executive E. Davis Burner has died at age 99.
Associated with some of Jacksonville?s best-known real estate and property management companies, Mr. Burner died Saturday.
He was born in Cass, W.Va., and moved to Jacksonville in 1932, eventually becoming one of five brothers to join up for military service during World War II.
In the late 1940s he returned to Jacksonville to enter the real estate business, beginning at Nussbaum and Sons and then Bisbee Baldwin Corp. where he served as vice president and property manger.

Regency Centers earnings rise in second quarter

Regency Centers Corp. reported second quarter earnings of $12.9 million, or 14 cents per diluted share, up from $7.7 million, or nine cents a share, the previous year.
The Jacksonville-based company's recurring funds from operations for the second quarter were $50.5 million, or 56 cents per diluted share, up from $49.1 million and 59 cents per diluted share during the second quarter of 2010.

Renovated Winn-Dixie on CR 210 welcomes guests

Winn-Dixie has unveiled its new look to North Florida.
The store on County Road 210 in St. Johns County, which remained open during its $5.5 million renovation, welcomed customers to is grand opening Wednesday.
?We?re redefining ourselves, transforming our brand, we like to say,? said Mary Kellmanson, group vice president of marketing. ?Winn-Dixie had a pretty poor image in the minds of our guests.?
The chain, based in Jacksonville, has been reworking that in recent years and the newest design reflects all those changes, she said.

Weight of distressed homes on Jacksonville market continues to lighten

The number of distressed sales in Northeast Florida stayed on the decline in July, after hitting a peak of 60 percent in February, the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors said in its monthly report.
Distressed sales include foreclosures, bank-owned sales and short sales ? homes sold for less than the amounts mortgaged. The percentage of those sales in the region?s overall sales have climbed from 8 percent in October 2007, according to NEFAR data. They first broke the 40 percent level in January 2009 and have not dropped below 35 percent since.

Steve Jobs steps down as CEO of Apple

CUPERTINO, Calif. ? Apple Inc. says Steve Jobs resigning as CEO, effective immediately.
The company said Wednesday that Jobs will be replaced by Tim Cook, who was the company's chief operating officer.
It said Jobs has been elected as Apple's chairman.
In a letter to Apple employees, Jobs said:
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
