The Florida Department of Health is making a second try at writing regulations for the production of low-THC medical cannabis after a previous attempt was struck down by a state judge.The department is forming a committee to draft regulations for a state law passed in June that legalizes prescriptions of low-THC cannabis for cancer patients and seizure victims, according to documents from the department. The committee will meet Feb. 4-5 in Tallahassee.

The beer wars continue, and the first volley of 2015 has been fired.The Florida Retail Federation is suing the state?s Department of Business and Professional Regulation over how it issues licenses to craft breweries to sell their own beer. Other groups representing beer stores and distributors have joined the fight challenging the licenses.The federation said it just wants the rules clarified and wants no new licenses issued until that?s done. But the breweries say there?s much more involved.

No, your eyes and memory aren?t playing tricks on you: Gas prices really have jumped that much in the past 24 hours.The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Jacksonville went up 8 cents from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to GasBuddy.com. Nationally, it went up 5 cents in 24 hours.Many areas around the country have seen double-digit increases. Bay City, Mich., topped the GasBuddy list. The average price there jumped from $2.02 on Tuesday to $2.31 Wednesday.

Jacksonville-based CSX Corp. has promoted its top operations executive to be the railroad?s president, but outgoing president Michael Ward will remain CEO and chairman.The railroad transportation company announced the executive changes Wednesday after the board of directors unanimously elected Oscar Munoz as president and chief operating officer of CSX Corp. Munoz will oversee operations, sales, marketing, human resources, service design and information technology.Munoz previously worked at AT&T, Coca-Cola and PepsiCo.

Publix Walmart Disagree On Whether Grocery Stores Should Sell Hard Liquor Amid Proposed Changes In State Law

TALLAHASSEE | Two of Florida?s largest retailers are on opposing sides of a debate about whether they should be allowed to stock hard liquor on shelves next to the soups and cereal.Wal-Mart is leading the charge to change state law and remove requirements that alcohol be sold in stand-alone stores separate from other types of products. Advocates say 34 other states already allow grocery stores to stock and sell hard liquor without major issues.

Natural Gas Fueling Station Opening On The Southside

Jacksonville?s first public-access compressed natural gas fueling station opens Thursday on the Southside. It?s located on Mining Boulevard, off Shad Road and just west of Philips Highway.The joint venture between Champion Brands Inc., ampCNG and Trillium CNG will service not just Champion Brands vehicles but other vehicles powered by CNG as they come into the area.Champion Brands, a beer distributor, is replacing its 40-vehicle diesel fleet with CNG trucks. The first 10 arrived last year. The rest are expected to be in service by the beginning of 2017.
