JPMorgan seeks incentives to bring 250 jobs to Jacksonville

JPMorgan Chase is seeking $1.25 million in financial incentives from Jacksonville and the state if the bank adds 250 jobs on the Southside.
The bank, headquartered in New York with a global presence, has been hiring new employees to work with customers in trouble with their mortgages. Jacksonville would get a piece of that expansion.
The new jobs would pay an average of $53,000 and be filled by the end of 2012, according to a Jacksonville Economic Development summary of the proposed incentives.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," the company said in a brief statement.

Jacksonville expands brownfield bonuses to companies, waiving policy requirements

The landscaped grounds of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Inc. office tower next to Riverside Avenue don?t look anything like a brownfield, the term for environmentally contaminated property.
That?s because it isn?t.
But if a Blue Cross and Blue Shield subsidiary hires 395 workers at the building, it will receive nearly $1 million from the state and the city for adding jobs in a city-designated brownfield zone.
