Teen attacked in PoS
WHILE plans are in place to have socially displaced persons removed from the streets of Port of Spain from tomorrow as part of Government's clean-up campaign for the upcoming Summit of the Americas, a young woman has fallen victim to violence at the hands of one such person. Ref. Source 3
When I worked in town, I used to be very scared about some of these homeless people, they usually walk around with metals and sticks. No matter what everybody thought, I always walked in the opposite street where they walked, having said that I know a woman who was attacked as well from a vagrant that just started running to attack her. Scary!
Girl injured by vagrant showing 'progress'
DOCTORS at the Port of Spain General Hospital are keeping a close watch on Sharifa Walker, the 17-year-old girl who was struck across the face with a piece of iron by a homeless man on Saturday in downtown Port of Spain. Ref. Source 3
I am very alarmed and sadden to have read this latest report. I know how frightening it is to be attacked by a vagrant, since I was once confronted by a homeless person, many years ago. But unlike this poor girl, I ran as fast as I could and escaped the wrath of the homeless person. It is very sad that the government is only removing these people because of the Summit. So my question is, when the Summit is finished, are the homeless going to be released back into the streets where they pose as a threat to innocent pedestrians?
