I am not too much into the subject so I may ask, what is going on? Is it that there is some stereotypes about veterans, if so which are those?

It sounds to me that the professor has a different opinion on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. So when the Veteran is doing his class work and is being graded on the fact he was in the war so he receives a lower grade.
I have heard this from many veterans or current military members. They are graded differently due to the fact that they were or are in the military and the professor does not believe in the wars.
