Auto parts company Takata doubles the size of its massive recall of faulty air bags, a government source says, creating the largest auto recall in history.

Takata has already recalled air bags used in about 18 million vehicles for the problem, but this move will bring that number up to about 34 million autos.

There have been at least five deaths tied to the faulty air bags, but Takata has previously resisted regulators' demands to get all the affected vehicles off the road. Honda made most of the cars in the recall. Ref. CNN
