Rosemarie Kerr From An LDS Perspective
I wanted to Discuss genuine Psychics from an LDS perspective. Now do note that we have a whole Board that deals with Mystics, Psychics and the Paranormal, so it is not my intention to generalize here. Mainly I want to focus on someone like Rosemarie Kerr, a bonefide psychic who has helped the police solve difficult cases. Read more on her (here).
Here are some questions for Discussion and consideration:
1. Do you believe in the abilities of Psychics?
2. Does the scriptures speak about Psychics outside the realm of Priesthood Powers? Consider that Rosemarie is not a member neither a Priesthood holder.
3. Who is giving Rosemarie this power?
4. Should we all strive to discover untapped Psychic abilities or is this a gift given only to certain people?

I think everybody has it in them, just as much as everybody could paint like Michaelangelo. Should those who are less inclined to study art still study it and try to be the best they can at it? I think if one is already given some degree of psychic ability or inclination towards the study of such things, they should pursue it if they plan to use it for good. If not, then they should probably say "goodbye" to those gifts. I think it's also hard to differentiate between the occult and the paranormal, and that's a dangerous line to meddle upon.
The thing about psychics is that people say a lot of things about themselves even before speaking a word. Is it the power of a psychic ability, or the power of observation? Don't forget that psychics are being paid to say these things, and in the fine print, it is for entertainment purposes only. They are deceitful, they claim to be real, doing a real service, but in fact they just do age old 'cold' reading tactics, and now with the benefit of the Internet, do 'hot' readings. Harry Houdini, one of the most famous magicians of all time, debunked psychics, he said the difference between himself, and psychics, is that, when people came to his shows, people knew it was for entertainment, but psychics aren't as forthcoming to the fact that they are performing, like an actor.
I do not think it is fair to generalize Rosemarie Kerr in this way. I specifically said this in the first Post:
