What are your thoughts... Is public opinion mostly right?

I believe that except for some rare circumstances the general opinion of the public is correct when its over a long period of time. They usually do not have the details right but the end reason for something happening is usually what they know to be true. The only reason I would not agree is when its solely based on social media because it tries to persuade opinion too quickly.
