Envision Spokane: Coalition Works to Get "Community Bill of Rights" into City Charter
A coalition of community activists, union members and environmental groups have begun gathering signatures to get a number of wide-ranging changes to the Spokane City Charter onto the November 2009 general election ballot. The changes are part of a proposed "Community Bill of Rights" drafted in a series of workshops and town hall meetings over the last year by a group called Envision Spokane. Ref. Source 7
I am not sure I agree to this or not. I think that having the constitutional bill of rights is enough. I do not see how a local government can get a local bill of rights that will limit the powers of a corporation over the regular people. I think all are equal and any local law can be taken to court to get it off the books via the state or the fed supreme court.
