Hillary Clinton told CNN on Wednesday that it is time to abolish the Electoral College, part of a sweeping interview where the former Democratic nominee sought to explain why she lost the 2016 election.
Clinton, in the interview with Anderson Cooper, displayed her animus for fired FBI Director James Comey, reflected on her love for the people -- namely former President Bill Clinton -- who helped her get through the crushing loss and blasted the arcane election body that she believes helped Donald Trump win the presidency.
"I think it needs to be eliminated," Clinton said of the Electoral College. "I'd like to see us move beyond it, yes." Ref. CNN.
The electoral college was placed in to make sure that the right person was elected. It also helps to make sure that the people of the country have a fair share in electing a person. If we did away with the Electoral college then the larges cities in the USA would control who is president because they are the ones who would have the most votes. You figure the three biggest cities of New York, LA and Chicago would have the same voting power as most of the states in the middle of this country. Imagine Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky and Tennessee all having their votes wiped out by just one of these cities.
Agreed, it would have been a different election. President Trump still may have won because he would have campaigned differently and the poor people in the middle of the country would be all but forgotten. Sorry, I don't agree with that. The electoral college was set up so that a state like Wisconsin actually could make a difference.
Of course, Clinton has been on her blame everyone else tour. On this tour she has blamed President Obama, whites, men (We're all misogynists), rich people, poor people, uneducated people, women who hate their sex and thus voted for Donald Trump, and now the electoral college. The list goes on and on. She blames everyone but the person she should blame, herself. She was an incredibly poor candidate with loads of baggage and horrible on the campaign trail. Yup, couldn't be her own fault.
She will never get over it because she knew, she absolutely knew she was going to win. The press told her that, her aides told her that, her Democrat allies told her that, everyone but the American people told her that. Her problem was those pesky naysayers that were telling her there were problems in middle America happened to be right, but she chose not to listen to them. This is 100% her fault. She was a flawed candidate from jump street and the Democrats anointed her anyway. Ya reap what you sow.
House Republicans launch two new investigations tied to Hillary Clinton. Republican leaders of three House committees announced Tuesday they are launching two separate investigations involving former secretary of State Hillary Clinton. One probe will deal with why the Obama administration allowed a Russian company to acquire U.S. Uranium mines and a second will look into why the FBI decided not to pursue charges against Clinton for use of a personal email server.
