I have to think that the courts made the right decision in this case. I am not one to make the person suffer any longer than they need to.

What an interesting article. I never knew that they had a name for this condition: gender identity dysphoria. I am not sure if I agree with the court to allow this girl to go on hormone treatments to suppress her from developing breasts or menstruating. I strongly believe that the parents should have explored other options such as seeking psychiatric help and if this does not work, then allow Alex to make up her own mind when she turns 18. I think giving her hormone treatments at the age of 13 is far too young. But then again, I am not walking in Alex's shoes so I can't be the one to judge how to live her life I suppose. I just hope that this was her decision and she was not pressured by an adult to do this.

That is the reason I agreed with this decision. She was already on hormone treatment for this long. Might as well let her continue on her journey.
