When teachers are delinquent
How, in good conscience, could a teacher stay away from work for more than a year? That "more" there being all of two years, if we were to take on board the disclosure of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association vice-president, Orville Carrington, that the representative teacher's union had received reports that said teacher had been away from the classroom for that amount of time. In traditional trade union fashion, Mr Carrington pointed his finger at the Ministry of Education for having failed to intervene, thereby allowing the situation to get to its present point. Ref. Comments: I do believe that it is about time that the Ministry of Education do something about these delinquent teachers. The MOE is in possession of the regularity and punctuality and what do they do with that data? Delinquency is too prominent among teachers young and old and the only people suffering are the children. Teachers have to remember that in our hands we have the potential to bring forth a Prime Minister in those same hand can create a bandit.
