Controversy

Consider the following quote and place your thoughts:

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
-- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968), US civil rights leader

I agree with this statement. IT is in times of trouble where one is stressed that his true nature is shown. It is then that one can see if this is a person that deserves to be followed or not. Sitting in safety and comfort does not show anyone what type of person you are.

Very true, and one of my favorite quotes of his. When man is at comfort, which is a state of rest, there is no part of him challenged so characteristics remain hidden, however in times of unease and controversey, the survival mechanism of humans kick in. This mechanism can be emotional or physical which show the potentials of the person testing his/her abilities. Morals are also tested in a state of distress.
