What are your thoughts about this kind of diet where cabbage in the form of a soup is consumed for several days?

I've actually done this, and it's not just soup but a 7-day plan of eating. You can actually lose a lot of weight in just a week. Rumor is that it was created by Loma Linda hospital for overweight heart patients to drop weight before surgery (but that's a rumor? ).

There are several different recipes for the soup, but it's basically cabbage and other vegetables with some tomato juice. I like to make it spicy wink.gif

QUOTE
Remember: This diet should only be followed for 7 days at a time, with at least two weeks in between.

Day One:
Fruit: Eat all of the fruit you want (except bananas). Eat only your soup and the fruit for the first day. For drinks- unsweetened teas, cranberry juice and water.

Day Two:
Vegetables: Eat until you are stuffed will all fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat leafy green vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat all the vegetables you want along with your soup. At dinner, reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter. Do not eat fruit today.

Day Three:
Mix Days One and Two: Eat all the soup, fruits and vegetables you want. No Baked Potato.

Day Four:
Bananas and Skim Milk: Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets.

Day Five:
Beef And Tomatoes: Ten to twenty ounces of beef and up to six fresh tomatoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat your soup at least once this day. You may eat broiled or baked chicken instead of beef (but absolutely no skin-on chicken). If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on one of the beef days (but not both).

Day Six:
Beef and Vegetables: Eat to your heart's content of beef and vegetables this day. You can even have 2 or 3 steaks if you like, with leafy green vegetables. No Baked Potato. Eat your soup at least once.

Day Seven:
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables: Again stuff, stuff, stuff yourself. Be sure to eat your soup at least once this day.

Another variant or name under which I have seen and tried this is the 'Oriental Diet', however cabbage is not the only ingredient as any vegetable can be used so long as you boil it for ours to get out all the caloric juice. Yes, in the end you will just be eating zero calorie roughage, so you can starve on such a diet, because it takes more calories to digest the food as compared to what it gives you.

Honestly, Cynthia, I haven't known that many people who have tried this program to know whether or not your circumstances are unusual. The few times I've tried it, I've had great success.

I may do a diet similar to this. I will eat a bunch of fresh fruit and lettuce only. I will drink only water. I think if I do this for a week I will be less heavy. The fruit will be oranges, apples and pineapple all fresh. I may mix in a banana here and there. The salad will be fresh salad with a mix of spinach leafs and carrots and a few cucumbers slices with no dressing of any kind.
