Multiple Plans Of Salvation

Name: Nieija

Comments: Hello everyone! I've stumbled upon this site and since I didn't see this topic I'd wanted to get more ideas concerning "Multiple plans of salvation".
We know that there was a council in heaven and from that I assume that there were more plans presented than just the two that we know about. My question would be if there are other means by which we could obtain godhood. We know that for us here on earth there is but one plan (Mosiah 4:8). Now, there is a reference that there are no other means but I think it could be interpreted as being limited to us here on earth. I cannot really think of another way to return back to our heavenly father but that doesn't mean that there couldn't be different plans. Free agency seems to be vital though. Thank you in advance for your thoughts on this.

I would say no. There is no other way. If there was would not God want to spare his Son? There is no reference that I can think of that suggest otherwise.

There might be other ideas, but I don't think there ever was any other plan.

First I have to realize there can't be any better plan then the plan of salvation. There would be no better way to save Us, his children, with out a savior.

Satans views was no need for a savior because there was no sin, because nobody would break any eternal laws and thus no angency.

Which is kind of the extreem. There might be some plan in the middle, it must have never been good enough to present it.

Comments: In the council in the pre-existence, God did not ask for specific plans from His children. He had already created a plan and simply asked, "Whom shall I send to be the redeemer of my children". He did not ask for specific plans to redeem us. Satan presented a plan that was contrary to the plan of God, and Christ simply said that He would be the Redeemer and save all that would repent. So no, only the two plans were presented. Though Christ Himself did not create His own plan, only volunteered to be the Savior.
