The Trump administration is discontinuing a signature girls education initiative championed by former first lady Michelle Obama, according to officials.

The "Let Girls Learn" program, which she and President Barack Obama started in 2015 to facilitate educational opportunities for adolescent girls in developing countries, will cease operation immediately, according to an internal document obtained by CNN. Ref. CNN.

Yes, I understand we need to share our wealth. We do and we do this through the auspices of the UN. I know this sounds hard and selfish, but I'd prefer spending this money on fixing US problems. Let's spend it on educating inner city and at risk girls in the US. We have too many problems and not rough to go around as it is. US treasure should be spent in our issues, other than what we donate to the UN and through USAID.

Yes We have so many people and kids in the USA that can use this aid money to help them achieve a much better life. We need to help our own first then help others later.

Rather off topic, but...
I know, but when I say things like this I feel like I'm being mean spirited.

My biggest problem with this is that it came from on high, from the former President and First Lady. With that kind of backing you know it got a lot of Federal attention and that took away from the problems our own citizens experience. We have vets that wait months for health care, suicide rates among our vets through the roof, kids in urban areas afraid to go to school, at risk kids making decisions that ruin their lives and at such a young age. Let's get Executive Branch emphasis on these issues.
