Suzan Lakhan-Baptiste
Picture a lone woman walking six miles along the Matura coastline at night. Sometimes sunrise would meet her still on the beach, vigilantly safeguarding the shore so endangered leatherback turtles could nest in peace. A few villagers mocked her efforts, giving her the name "Crazy Turtle Woman". But on May 29, 2009, Suzan Lakhan-Baptiste was recognized by CNN with a more fitting description - hero. Ref. Source 3
