Appeal Court Judge Stanley John
Grateful for judge's wake-up call
The Association of Magistrates, and the Criminal Bar Association, through their presidents, Ms Avason Quinlan and Desmond Allum respectively, have responded rapidly and condemned the comments of Appeal Court Judge Stanley John, regarding the performances of magistrates Jo-Ann Connor and Ann Ryan, who it seems were operating as a law unto themselves. The Chief Justice has distanced himself from the said remarks, through the Court Protocol and Information Office and has apologised to the affected associations. Ref. Source 4
Chasing away the best from T&T
Justice Stanley John has decided to call it a day. And judging from his accomplishments, a long day it has been, indeed. I don't know the honourable gentleman; never had the opportunity or good fortune to run into him; our paths never crossed. Yet I feel a sense of loss; a sense of emptiness, like the death of a close, personal friend. The loss feels personal, even when I know it's not. Ref. Source 5
