I can't imagine living that long. The world is so different since World War I where wagon wheels were still in common use. It will be nice to know what he attributes his longevity to.

How delightfully sweet! Did you hear him say "Hurray!" after they sang Happy Birthday in the clip? The article says he stayed up late the night before, excited about the party and birthday cake.

QUOTE
Asked the secret of his long life, Mr Allingham said: "I don't know, but I would say be as good as you possibly can."

And there you have it.

I wish I could put that down to an actual reason but it seems in this world being as good as you possibly can may end your life quicker.

Ooooh, that's rather cynical, JB ... But on the other hand, may be true. I think the secret is, if we have to live that long, we'll have fewer regrets if we are "as good as we possibly can be."

It is, I know what you mean, I just generally live in an environment where doing good makes you look weak or trying to be 'too good'. However, I agree with him, less regrets, and more good is good for self. It will be nice to have a scientific reason and especially know his dietary habits.
