I think our Prime Minister Mr Patrick Manning statement on the murder of Tecia Henry, makes him no different than the murder who killed little Tecia in cold blood. He lacks sensitivity and shows no regard for human life. Although I understand what he was "hinting" at where the death of Tecia Henry was concerned, there is a time and place for everything. A helpless, innocent child is dead and there was no need for him to imply that there was more to the story. Yes, we all know that Tecia's mother was a drug addict and unfortunately, (according to the Express)Tecia was used to carry drugs in her lunch kit. Apparently, the mother was owing money and the person who murdered this poor child was fed up of waiting and listening to the mother's excuses. But what he should have said was something short and to the point. Even if he was not being sincere (because we all know that we cannot accept anything this Prime Minister says as gospel) he could have offered his condolences or even claim to increase security in the John John area.

it is difficult to understand why the cops seem to drag their feet in this and other kidnap / murder cases. |
Unfair comments from our PM
I was sickened by the statements uttered by this country's Prime Minister concerning the horrific murder of little Tecia Henry, especially after the recently concluded Summit of the Americas, with its theme being, "Securing our citizens' future by promoting human prosperity, energy security and environmental sustainability''. There is absolutely no justification for the slaying of a child. If this is so then it stands to reason that the recent burning of the children over a land dispute was justified. Ref. Source 6
The main suspect on the killing of little Tecia has been murdered. Residents "celebrated" his death.

Strains of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" blared from large speaker boxes placed at almost every corner of John John and Beverly Hills in Laventille yesterday. The scene on St Paul Street in Port-of-Spain was no different. Residents-with beer bottles and plastic cups of rum and Coca-Cola in hand-danced. They were "celebrating" the murder of Ricardo "Docs" McCarthy, 49, who was shot dead on Sunday night. McCarthy, who police claimed controlled the Block Eight Gang in Laventille, was the prime suspect in the killing of ten-year-old Tecia Henry. A few hours after Tecia's bloated body was found stuffed in a hole under a house at Plaisance Terrace in Laventille, McCarthy and five other men of Block Eight were detained by police. Police believe McCarthy "was put in place" to be killed. His body was found in a track off Belle Vue Road in Long Circular, St James. Police said they were told by residents that several loud explosions were heard around 10.30 pm on Sunday. But it was only around 6.30 am yesterday that McCarthy's body was found in a bushy track leading to Dundonald Hill. Investigators said he was shot several times at close range to the head. McCarthy, who was released recently from police custody, may have been hiding out in the Belle Vue area, investigators believe.... |
