It is refreshing to see that there are other countries taking a proactive approach against Al-Quaeda. The fact that they can actually have a base in Mali is a scary thing for that country.

Timbuktu clashes between Mali army and Islamists:

The Malian army has been fighting Islamist rebels in the northern city of Timbuktu after a suicide bomber attempted to attack an army checkpoint. The bomber was killed before he could detonate his bomb on Saturday evening. This was followed by militant attempts to infiltrate the city. Ref. Source 6
