Forum Auctions

Forum Auctions

One of the unique features of the community is the ability to bid on items using your forum points (also known as 'FP). This thread talks about the use of the Forum Auction. Please note that ONLY the Administrator can start auctions.

Using the Auctions

1. Go to the Auctions Page
2. Select the Auction Category you are interested in.
3. Select the available titles you want to bid on
4. View the detailed item description and current highest bid
5. Place your bid
6. Read the confirmation message saying you are the 'Current Highest Bidder'
7. Monitor the auction to make sure you are not out bid by someone else.

Purpose

The whole idea of the auction is to provide a new way for forum users to spend their FP and earn items they may not be able to afford.

Q. How often do auctions last?
A. Usually seven days from the start date.

Q. How do I know when an auction will expire?
A. Note the expiration date of the auction, it is shown when you view item titles.

Q. What is the difference between auction categories and titles?
A. Categories refer to the TYPE of auction and titles are the actual items WITHIN that category.

Q. What happens if I bid and win but do not have the FP to pay for the item?
A. The item will NOT be given to you and you will have the original FP cost of the item deducted from your account as a penalty. Yes, so that means if you bid, make sure you can at least cover the FP you are using to bid on the auction.

Q. What if I make a mistake and bid too much?
A. It is not our problem if you are not careful, type it CORRECT the FIRST time.

Q. Can I cancel or withdraw a bid?
A. NO! Not under ANY circumstance will we remove a bid.

Q. Can I bid using decimals like '9.5'?
A. No. Whole number only please.

Q. What is the lowest and highest I can bid?
A. Lowest is 1 above the last figure to the highest which is up to 9999 FP.

Q. how will I know the original value of the item?
A. It will say in the description.
