This thread first started about the Second Coming and somehow evolved into a political rant. It has been changed to stay on an LDS Perspective.

World Governments & Politics - An LDS view?

Many governments and politicians will be involved in the end time prophecy of great destruction. This thread is not so much about the prophecy itself, but the major players... in other words, which country do you think will be the cause of the break down that will start the Great Last War? What will be the political angles that they will use?

I think it will be one European country, I don't know which one but I'm pretty sure it will come from that side of the world.

Looks like it will be the Americans, running around unilaterally deciding to bomb people.

Not that this has stopped them before, like supplying weaponry, training and capital to guerillas and terrorists in other nations.

You mean the USA? Remember, basically everyone on the Western half of the world is an American. (South, Central, North) I only bothered to mention it because we had a similar discussion before.

George W. does not like blood.  You just stirred this Republican urrrrgggh (Brian T is a hardcore American Republican!)

It is not about liking blood, besides, the United States is Israel's most faithful and sometimes I think only alley.  George W. Bush is a lot like Captain Moroni, it is not bloodshed that he likes but freedom.  In my opinion he is the most Christian president that we have ever had.  I don't understand why the latin community is so overwhelmingly democrat in mind.

What I also don't understand is the hatred that the rest of the world shares against President Bush, they make him out to be a war monger etc, don't the people outside of the United States realize that WE were attacked?  Don't they also realize that Saddam is a wacko and wackos are better off without nukes?

In my opinion the people who will go to war against Israel will be all of those already anti Israel countries which is just about all of them that side of the world.  The Americas will not be at war at that time, we will be establishing Zion, and in my opinion the final war will not be for some years now.  For one reason the Temple needs to be built in Jerusalem.

President Hinckley taught that we should back up President Bush in the fight against terrorism.  The Book of Mormon teaches us that when Secret Combinations come in our mist we need to  "Wherefore, O ye Gentiles, it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain-and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction if ye shall suffer these things to be."  Ether 8:23

What I don't understand is if bush is so against Sadam why doesn't he just send some marins in to take him out rather than attack the whole nation? innocent people are going to die.

Brian, I know you're a republican. I am not republican nor democrat, after all I don't live in the United States. I don't like both parties. My opinion in the Bush administration is based on how they see foreigners and how a foreigner see this called 'war against terrorism'.

I don't want to sound rude, but to make a comparison between Pres. Bush and Captain Moroni is almost comical, come on, do you really think that?. I cannot even dare to open my mouth and make a statement like that knowing all the things that Moroni has done for his people.

My point here Brian is that this 'war against terrorism' ONLY exists because of what happened in Sept. 11th. If the sad events of Sept 11th didn't take place, this 'war against terrorism' would NOT exist at the present. Do you see my point? Only because US interests were affected and american people died, they went and attack Afghanistan and now Iraq. I see it as selfish purposes, or you're going to tell me that the USA didn't know how oppressed the people in Afghanistan were living under the regime of the Taliban, of course they knew, and the didn't do anything about it! UNTIL...the sept. 11th thing happened.

Now, what's the excuse to attack Iraq? the mass destruction weapons? good, I understand that BUT do you remember that Iraq ALLOWED the UN to enter the country and they DID in fact enter and they didn't find anything? that what the report says!

so what's the excuse now to attack them?. Can you see what I mean?
Look at Palestine and their President Arafat, I don't like this guy at all! but the people LIKE him just as the same people in Iraq likes Hussein...BUT the USA doesn't have any rights to try to change the president of another country, you know what I mean? that's what the people wants even though is not good!

I don't know Brian, I just can tell you this. To believe that Bush is doing all this to just HELP people, is a very naive thinking. Any president of ANY country do things based on interests, money, oil, security etc.
