Teachers Walk Off The Job Fearing For Their Safety

It is absolutely unacceptable that a child that attacks a teacher in this manner is allowed to return to school like if nothing ever happened! Like I always say, in Trinidad teaching is a high risk job.

Teachers of the Roxborough Composite School walked off the job on Tuesday and Wednesday in protest, after one of three students who had been sent home for allegedly assaulting a teacher returned to the school.

According to an official at the school, three students assaulted a teacher in the corridor of one of the blocks last Wednesday. They allegedly hit, cuff and head locked the teacher, who suffered several bruises to the face and was medically treated at the Scarborough Regional Hospital following the attack.

In the wake of the incident, teachers met with principal, Althea John, and a decision was made to suspend the students until investigations were completed. To the teachers horror, however, on Tuesday and Wednesday, one of the students was permitted on the school compound .

"A meeting was then called immediately with teachers and other school officials, who then decided to leave the school premises in fear of their safety," a school official said...

Safety Their Fearing Job The Walk Teachers

I do not blame them for walking out. You have to have control of the schools to make it safe for teachers and students alike. This school is proving itself to be very unsafe for anyone.
