Saudi paper: U.S. Carried out 9/11 attacks:
Saudi legal expert Katib Al-Shammari, writing in the London-based Saudi daily Al-Hayat on April 28, charged that the U.S. Carried out the 9/11 attacks while placing blame on others, beginning with al-Qaida and the Taliban, then shifting to Saddam Hussein's Iraq and now Saudi Arabia. Ref. Source 6a.
Congress released on Friday a long-classified report exploring the alleged ties of the Saudi Arabian government to the 9/11 hijackers.
Known as the "28 pages," the secret document was part of a 2002 congressional investigation of the Sept. 11 attacks and has been classified since the report's completion. Ref. CNN.

Congress rejects Obama veto of 9/11 bill, marking first veto override of his presidency
The House joined the Senate on Wednesday in voting to overturn the president's veto of legislation allowing survivors and family members of victims to sue Saudi Arabia over the 2001 terror attacks in New York and Washington. It was the first successful override of a presidential veto since Obama took office. The Senate voted 97-1 earlier Wednesday to overturn the veto. The president had argued that allowing suits against other nations in U.S. Courts could harm American foreign policy and set a precedent for foreign suits against the U.S. Ref. USAToday.

Leaders of the Republican party in Congress have said they want to reconsider the law. The Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell admitted that lawmakers had not understood the possible consequences of the legislation. Ref. Source 7j

There have been reports that Riyadh threatened to pull billions of dollars from the US economy if the bill became law, however al-Jubeir has only officially said investor confidence in the US could decline. Ref. Source 2e.
The Justice Against Supporters of Terrorism Act has passed, been vetoed, and overridden. The new law of the land holds that anyone can sue any country or military personnel, including those who provided weapons, vehicles, money or equipment, involved in a casualty. Now, all these drones that our Peace Prize President is using to kill people will become the new basis for forced austerity in this country.
