Obama Admin Loses Fight to Persecute Pro-Life Activist

The Obama administration has lost one round of a legal battle it is waging in court against a Florida pro-life advocate - a battle that saw the administration unfairly seek to punish a peaceful sidewalk counselor under a law meant to stop violence and intimidation.

Attorney General Eric Holder and the Department of Justice had sought to levy thousands of dollars in fines against pro-life activist Mary Susan Pine as well as seeking a permanent injunction banning her from continuing her faithful 20-year ministry outside an abortion clinic in West Palm Beach, Florida.

"But this scheme was thrown out of court and drew criticism from Judge Kenneth L. Ryskamp, who concluded that the government lacked evidence to prove not just one, but "all three elements of its FACE (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act) claim," said Mathew Staver, Chairman of Liberty Counsel Action, whose organization is assisting Pine.

"Eric Holder's Department of Justice (DOJ) just lost a major court battle due to their unjustified charges against a pro-life woman who was defended by Liberty Counsel," Staver added. Ref. Source 8

None of the Presidents actions should be shocking or surprising in the least bit. During this last campaign, it was fully documented that he obstained from a decision on partial birth abortion. This alone should be a very good indicator, not to mention his voting for all other abortion motions before him. You can debate all you want about when life starts, but in a partial birth abortion the line really isn't nearly as blurred as the moment of conception and he only obstained.

Obama Appoints Architect of Roe v. Wade to Appeals Court

President Barack Obama is adding to his massive pro-abortion record by placing yet another abortion activist on a top federal appeals court - this time a lawyer credited with helping craft the Roe v. Wade decision.

Obama has appointed Andrew Hurwitz to the 9th Circuit Court, the most liberal appeals court in the country based in San Francisco and covering laws approved in western states. Yet, according to the Daily Caller, Hurwitz was instrumental to providing some of the legal framework for Roe, which resulted in 54 million abortions.

In a law review paper published in 2002, Hurwitz takes partial credit for drafting opinions as a law clerk that the Supreme Court would later use to frame its landmark decision in Roe v. Wade.

In 1972 Hurwitz clerked for Connecticut District Court Judge Jon Newman, who authored two abortion case opinions (Abele I and Abele II) that Hurwitz later cited as highly influential for the majority when deciding Roe v. Wade. Ref. Source 9

Members of Congress Demand Bill to Stop Obama's Mandate

More than 50 members of Congress banded together at a press conference today to demand legislation to stop the new mandate pro-abortion President Barack Obama put in place forcing religious employers to pay for insurance coverage including birth control and abortion-inducing drugs.

Congressman Jeff Fortenberry held a press conference today with supporters of the bipartisan, bicameral Respect for Rights of Conscience Act. His legislation would protect the religious liberty and conscience rights of every American who objects to being forced by the strong-arm of government to pay for drugs and procedures recently mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Rep. Chris Smith, the head of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus said Obama's slick public relations offensive on Friday contained neither an "accommodation" nor a compromise nor a change in his coercion rule.

"The final rule promulgated Friday remains a direct, obnoxious, unprecedented government attack on the conscience rights of religious entities and anyone else who for moral reasons cannot and will not pay for abortion inducing drugs-such as ella-or contraception and sterilization procedures in their private insurance plans," Smith said. "Obama is arrogantly using the coercive power of the state to force faith-based charities, hospitals, and schools to conform to his will at the expense of conscience." Ref. Source 2

Obama's Priority: Abortion Funding Yes, Adoption Funding No

President Obama's recent budget proposal would end a lifesaving adoption program while continuing to advocate for hundreds of millions of dollars to subsidize the abortion industry.

On December 31, 1998, Hannah Strege was born to proud parents, John and Marlene Strege. As the father of two (and soon to be three), I can tell you that every birth is a miracle, and every child is a gift from God. However, there was and is something uniquely special about Hannah. Hannah was the first baby ever delivered after having been adopted as a frozen embryo. These babies are often referred to as snowflake babies.

Snowflake babies begin their journey to an adoptive family when the in-vitro fertilization process of another couple generates "leftover" embryos. When this occurs, the genetic parents of these embryos have the option to give them up for adoption rather than allow for them to be simply destroyed. Obama Admin Finalizes Rules: $1 Abortions in ObamaCare

It's official. The concern pro-life organizations had about the ObamaCare legislation funding abortions has been confirmed, as the Obama administration has issued the final rules on abortion funding governing the controversial health care law.

Nestled within the "individual mandate" in the Obamacare act - that portion of the Act requiring every American to purchase government - approved insurance or pay a penalty - is an "abortion premium mandate." This mandate requires all persons enrolled in insurance plans that include elective abortion coverage to pay a separate premium from their own pockets to fund abortion. As a result, many pro-life Americans will have to decide between a plan that violates their consciences by funding abortion, or a plan that may not meet their health needs.

The Department of Health and Human Services has issued a final rule regarding establishment of the state health care exchanges required under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Ref. Source 1

Obama Admin OKs Using Aborted Babies" Brains in Lab Tests

The Obama administration is getting grief from a pro-life group for approving an experiment using the remains of the bodies of unborn children victimized in abortion for research continues in U.S. Laboratories.

Scott Fischbach, the director of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life uncovered the information showing a clinical trial approved by the Food and Drug Administration uses brain tissue from aborted unborn babies to treat macular degeneration. StemCells Inc. Will inject fetal brain stem cells into the eyes of up to 16 patients to study the cells" effect on vision.

In its press release announcing the clinical trial, StemCells Inc. Was careful to refer to the fetal brain material as "purified human neural stem cell product" or HuCNS-SC cells, rather than "fresh human fetal brain tissue," a description which can be found elsewhere on its website. Ref. Source 1
