After days of speculation as to where Governor Mark Sanford (everyone thought he was in the Appalachian Trail hiking) was he finally comes forward after a trip to Argentina that he is unfaithful. Is being a politician synonymous with infidelity these days?

This guy is a total idiot!
First off, how on earth can he possibly believe that he is smart enough to keep this thing going and the press not eventually find out about it. You are a senator. There are only a few of you in the whole country. You are watched. To top it all off, you just mention in the first paragraph that you are being considered for the VP spot on McCain's ticket! Knowing your name is on a short list, you still had no idea that this little affair might be some tasty fodder for at least the tabloids or the press you alluded to in the email? Either he is ridiculously stupid and thinks that he can do whatever he wants or he has a elevated view of himself that leaves him impervious to the recent trappings of other senators.
Secondly, that has got to be about the stupidest excuse for being gone I have ever heard. Goin to the Appalachian Trail...dont call me. DUDE, your cellphone has reception through large parts of the Appalachian Trail. Your Attorney General hates you and you had to know he was going to question your location and you give your staff this crap answer? Geez...why not just say you are headed to Mt Kilimanjaro. At least everyone would understand the lack of cellphone availability.
Lastly, how did let his emails get collected? False accounts Senator...false accounts
Hope he enjoys his infidelity, former job as a Senator and former family.
Is the entire Republican party trying to shoot itself in the foot?

The wife issued a long statement about this including her asking him to leave their home for a couple of weeks and that is why she did not know where he was. She did say she is open to resurrect the relationship. As for the Emails, the Argentine press says they had knowledge of the Emails for many months but waited to authenticate them.

Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina, whose whereabouts were unknown earlier this week, admitted yesterday to having cheated on his wife. The affair was with a woman from Argentina, which doomed this relationship from the start. Mark Sanford says he will not resign. Not only do politicians today shame themselves in the biggest way, they continue to dishonor their reputation by carrying on as though what they do is OK.
The woman in Argentina is actually a known reporter. This is the poor quality picture of her. Do you know who she is LDS_forever?
