PHILILPPINES' ARROYO SAYS SHE WON'T QUIT

The embattled president of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, has refused to quit and is demanding that her cabinet resign so she can appoint a new one.

I'm not real up on Philippine policy, so I don't understand the reason that she couldn't just fired the cabinet members that are causing the problems. I hope that she finds a way to get through all this controversy before she is forced from office. If she cannot straighten things out, then all the resolve in the world will not stop her inevitable resignation from her office.

The death toll from the Philippines" worst politically-linked massacre has risen to fifty-seven. The victims were abducted as they were travelling to nominate an opposition candidate for governor in upcoming elections.The dead include 18 Filipino journalists from regional newspapers.
