Ryan Gosling is one of my favorite younger actors and, in my opinion, playing a comic book character would be a waste of his enormous talent. He has such a raw intense energy onscreen.
In some ways he reminds me of a young Val Kilmer in the depth and flexibility of his acting skills, the vast continuum of acting roles he has mastered at an early stage in his career and life.
He can play everything - from the dedicated, determined lover (The Notebook, one of my all time favorite romance movies) to a cold-blooded serial killer (Murder by Numbers) or Jewish Neo-Nazi (The Believer), from a drug addict (Half Nelson) to a political suspense drama (The Ides of March) plus do crazy, hilarious comedy (such as Lars and the Real Girl).
Now that he's returned to the screen after several years, I hope he continues to delight us with his riveting performances for a long time to come.
