Congress approves historic health care legislation
WASHINGTON - Summoned to success by President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled Congress approved historic legislation Sunday night extending health care to tens of millions of uninsured Americans and cracking down on insurance company abuses, a climactic chapter in the century-long quest for near universal coverage. Forcing A Change
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Republicans succeeded early Thursday in forcing a change in a measure altering President Obama's newly enacted health care overhaul, meaning the bill will have to return to the House for final congressional approval. Ref. USAToday
Health Care Bill Once Again
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate has passed a bill reshaping parts of the new you.S. health care overhaul law and is sending it back to the House for final congressional approval. Republicans managed to kill a minor provision on grants for low-income students that violated Congress' budget rules. So now, the House has to approve an identical bill before President Obama can sign it. House leaders predict their chamber will complete the bill by day's end. Ref. USAToday
Better Benefits For Seniors
WASHINGTON - The House voted 220-207 Thursday night for legislation making changes to the law President Obama signed on Tuesday. The changes include better benefits for seniors and low-income and middle-class families. The Senate voted 56-43 for the measure earlier in the day. Ref. USAToday
I don't understand the issue mostly, really, and I'll be honest about that. On the face of it, I don't see how "healthcare for everybody" can be a bad thing? I would presume there is a basic coverage and if you want to pay more, you can have more specific programs, but from KNToran's post, that isn't the case?
I'm a Native American (Cherokee) so I get free medical treatment at the local Indian Hospital, which is a godsend, since I barely have a friend, let alone a family member, who has ever had their own regular doctor, that they go, like you see in movies and shows and stuff. I show up, I register, I sit and wait, get checked, see the doc and go from there - takes about six hours or so usually for walk in.
That's the way it's always been for me, I don't know anything different, and am grateful for the program, slow, rough around the edges and inefficient though it is, but I don't know how something like this will be affected by any healthcare changes... Do you?
Dems admit ObamaCare = Socialism
No wonder Castro loves this bill so much - one of the healthcare bill's big supporters, Max Baucus, has admitted that the bill really didn't have that much to do with health or care. Here he is speaking about how the bill is really about the redistribution of wealth. Hey, wasn't Glenn called nuts for suggesting this president is all about spreading the wealth? Check out the audio from Baucus and Glenn's reaction to the comments on radio today. Ref. Source 3
NYT admits Obamacare = redistribution of wealth
In a stunning admission, The New York Times admits what Glenn has been saying all along: this healthcare bill is not about health or care - it's about the redistribution of wealth. Remember, this is the President who feels one of the 'tragedies' of the Warren court was that there was not enough 'redistributive change' that came out of it. The President and his supporters will scold anyone who dares call him a socialist - so what will they say about this NYT article titled "In health bill, Obama attacks wealth inequality." Glenn breaks down the article in this week's Beck Talks video blog. Ref. Source 7
A health care plan that hires more IRS for collections and imposes more taxes on the people. It forces you to buy insurance (huge bonus for the insurance companies that were not able to tap into that 18-22 year old base (that now has to buy insurance). Large companies that were supplying insurance have a great out by simply paying each employee 2k more per year (might or might not cover their insurance, but would be a enormous windfall for the companies).
The left is so proud of this coup veiled in a health care plan for all that they just cant keep quiet about it. The speaker of the house said that she cant tell you what is in the bill until you accept it first. NICE! I am sure Jim Jones didn't tell them what was in the Kool Aid...just drink it and trust me!
The republicans talking about repealing this immediately are dreaming. This was beautifully orchestrated. Many people now think that they have this wonderful thing coming to them to better their lives. They havent seen the negative repercussions from the action we just took on our ecomony. The best part is that they don't, congress really doesnt nor do any of us really know what it is because it wasnt completed and what was completed wasnt really read by anyone that voted on it. How can you even think on repealing this gift that is wonderful but no one really knows what it is? YOU CANT! Not until there is evidence of the damage that has been wrought.
