Funbikerchick Introduction - Page 55

It took me a while to adjust to the size of the bike. It seemed quite large at first and I was a bit wobbly at slow speeds on it. However, now it is fine and I love the larger size. It is more comfortable and also more stable on the highway. The fact that it is so big, actually got me a date recently... biggrin.gif

I am woman, hear me roar! I changed the flapper in my toilet today AND put on a new toilet seat. I am so proud of myself. Next, I need to change the drain hose on the washer. It is leaking. Also, before the heating season, I am going to put on a new thermostat.

As far as the date...I had a good time, but won't likely do more than an occasional dinner or maybe a motorcycle ride.

Introduction Funbikerchick

Well, I finally had a chance to do my IronButt SaddleSore 1000 motorcycle ride. This is the ride where you have to do 1000 miles in 24 hours or less. I went from Sturbridge, MA, out route 90, up through Buffalo, NY and down through Erie, PA, and then crossed into Ohio, had lunch at Burger King, turned around and came back. Took 18.5 hours to complete.

The ride was awesome, but cold! It was in the 40's when we started out in the morning. I didn't take off my heavy gloves until noon! By the time we stopped the first time for gas, I was so cold I couldn't feel my fingers or toes. It got cold again around 10:00 p.m. If this ride had been done in August instead of the end of September, it would have been much more fun!

I popped aspirin at every gas stop and didn't really get too sore...just the darn cold! However, I sure did look awful. I think little children and old ladies were running for cover everytime I stopped at a rest stop on the highway to use the ladies room. laugh.gif

**********

Rain, rain go away, and stay away! I live in Massachusetts. We had rain for 8 straight days! Then we had 3 days with no rain and it is supposed to rain again today through the weekend, although not all day rains like those 8 days were. I hope I don't end up with another flood in my basement. I managed to catch this one just before it reached the hot water heater. The entire basement was flooded, but it could have been worse. I didn't lose my home so I am still better off than those who have suffered from the hurricanes and or the flooding in NH from this 8 days of rain. There is a dam in a town not too far from me that is in real danger of collapse. The downtown area is closed and so are schools. Residents in the area have had to evacuate as well. At least there hasn't been any looting.

************

Work is incredibly busy and will stay that way until the end of the year. Several projects that were planned for this year haven't been finished and they must all be done before the year ends. One of them in particular is a very large project.

I will try to stay a bit more active on the forum. I miss you all when I am not here.

Tena, my online biker friend, how are things with you? I see that you have finally accomplished your goal and I am sure you self esteem has grown a notch or two - congratulations, to both you and your sore bum. wink.gif Sorry about your basement, but I am glad that it was nothing so tragic that you could not recover from, my only regret is not being able to render some assistance in person.

I am doing very well, thanks for asking. It has been rainy and cold all weekend, but the basement is still dry so all is well. I hope it stops raining soon so I can ride the bike again before the snow begins to fall.

I feel very good about my Iron Butt accomplishment. What is really nice is the respect I get from other bikers. To a non-rider, this might not sound all that difficult, but those who ride, understand just what an accomplishment it really is! One of my friends at work told her husband. He is a bit of a gruff personality. I like him alot, but he has this tough outer shell even though he has a heart of gold. Anyway, he called me up to tell me how impressed he was...yes, he rides. Says he didn't think he could do it.

JB, how are you and LDS doing with your new move back to Trinidad?

Not a rider myself, but I can well imagine that this is a great challenge, so it is a big deal, more so because when I think about it... you are computer gal, x-marine, RPGer/moderator, LDS member and at the same a stylish motorbike rider - what a resume - you are special indeed.

As for us, we are coping through the Lord with all that life is and is about, but this is your thread. wink.gif
