I am curious...Are you paring down to suitcases between all three of you, or is it two suitcases each or just you, JB, who is going down to two suitcases?

We are going with two suitcases each including our two desktops towers which must fit in the suitcases. I know it sounds weird, but having moved more than 100+ times in my life I am just sick of logging stuff around. Hence these past days I have been trying to destroy or sell those thing that cannot fit in those suitcases. I am also determined to be so light that I can move at a moment's notice. At present, with the way the world is... that is not a bad thing either.

No monitors, just the towers alone, keep in mind that suitcases only have certain limited dimensions and must not be over 70lbs.

I hope you don't have any problems with them on the way. A friend of mine just recently went travelling. He had to move to Australia for our company to set up a new hospital. Since he was going to be gone for 8 months (rather still gone), he took his desktop. He wrote me when he got there and said they broke it while inspecting it! Not everyone knows how to handle computers, so be careful! And good luck on your move, hope everything goes smoothly!

    Introduction JB

Yikes! Inspecting it? You mean they opened it up? I thought they just X-rayed it unless they saw something suspicious. I will have to make some calls on it, but I am hoping that my tower makes it in one piece as computer stuff there is much too expensive to buy.

Well, I think customs will probably open everything. Even if you weren't to go through customs certain bags are randomly opened and searched, at least in the US. Computers are always suspect. Often electronic gear is used to make a bomb. I know when traveling with a laptop you have to be able to demonstrate it works so the battery needs to be charged. Maybe you should ship the computers separately by some freight method like UPS or Fedex, in the US. Not sure what is available in Trini.

Even if I were to send it seperately it would go by air and be subject to the same scrutiny by whomever decides to look at it. To me X-ray should be sufficent and more especially because we will not be flying on any US carriers or to any US destinations (that is where things may be most overdone), but alas... I have reached a point in my life that if it is mashed up then I cannot be emotional over it, especially having recalled about one that has suffered a lot and has said... 'God hath given... and God hath taken away... blessed be the name of God'. Much of these thoughts are expressed in my blog.
