I'm not too surprised about your finding Jewish ancestors from Spain -- my daughter's father has ancestors who were exiled to Portugal from Spain for being Jewish. They are known as "sephardim." I just wish I could find out more information on that line and where it goes...

Yes, exactly. I am a sephardic jew descendant. I think is sooooo cool!!!! Love it! I always thought that having some conection with the country where Christ was born would be so cool and look at me now!

You are not the only Royalty here *hehehe* Searching more about it I found it that my last name come also from Royalty from Spain!!! Yep! believe it or not! and it was also listed in a web site I found today of Royalty Families of Spain. So now that both of us have blue blood on us, let us demand some more respect here

There are websites devoted to the Sephardim and forums, as well, and I tried for a time to glean more info regarding those in Portugal for my daughter's history. It's difficult without having more information from her grandparent from that line, her paternal grandmother. She is suspicious of my asking about it, and no one else in the family knows anything. So I'll just have to keep plugging away when I feel inspired . Of course, it would help if I could speak Portuguese
