FarSeer Introduction - Page 25

FarSeer, are you fairing o.k. with all the bad weather and landslides in Southern California? It doesn't normally rain there, and so the land can't take all the water at once. It can't absorb it. I saw there was an aweful land slide in Santa Barbara, I think. Hope all is well for you. Stay dry. It could be worse, it could be snow.

We're doing okay, thank you for asking! We do have flooded streets, closed streets, lakes where open fields should be, overflowing "washes" and "sloughs" and have to take the long way around certain areas... but mostly we're doing fine.

Yep, it could be snow, and wouldn't that be a bummer for these SoCali people who can't even drive in the *rain*... it would shut us down. And, actually, we do need the water. It's been really dry here for a long, long time. This will help get the water tables back up to par, hopefully.

Hello, Farseer. So you have a lot of water down there, just like we do up here. I don't remember if you knew or not, I'm up here in San Jose. I know what you mean about California people not even knowing how to drive in the rain. I grew up in Ohio in the country, where we had 15 Ft. snow drifts, so I learned how to drive in snow and ice. People here panic if they see a snowflake in the air. hehe Just kidding. Yes, we do definitely need the water. My husband Charles grew up in the Santa Cruz mountains. There is a reservoir off of highway 17 that was so full when we moved here after we were first married almost 15 years ago. This summer it has been so low, almost empty even. The rain only fills it back up a little bit, even a lot of rain like we have been having. I hope the rain and the flooding aren't causing you too many problems. I see you play some games here, you will have to tell me how; well, I can ask JB that, too. Anyway, take care and thanks for your posts!

I am glad you are doing o.k. It is true you could use the rain, but maybe just not all at once.

We are having a somewhat snowy winter, but it hasn't been too, too cold. It snowed last night and is snowing now, but very lightly, just an inch or two. It is going to turn to freezing rain and then rain. Tomorrow will be near 60, so I am not even going to bother to shovel. The weather will remove it for me naturally.

It is going to be cold this weekend, and I imagine stay that way now for the rest of the winter. I can't wait for summer!
