Roz, I just read your blog about your daughter's glasses. I must admit, it made me laugh! Not because it is funny that she destroyed her glasses, but because I find it funny sometimes how little children's minds work! So, I was just chuckling at the notion of each child deciding to trash their glasses without really thinking of the consequences and then needing to come up with an explanation after the fact again without really considering the consequences. They sometimes are truly little grown ups in that regard I suppose. Also, I just found it humorous because I was getting a chuckle out of your challenges. Sorry. Actually, I know what a joy your daughter is for you and so I know you can see the humor in this too, or at least you will some day. *smile*

Wow Farseer, I just read your blog and it sounded like you was really mad at your little one and with good reason!. I know you said she loves her glasses but I think she is reaching the age where kids make fun of you for wearing them (even if she tells you that they do not) they do...all the time and maybe that is making her really uncomfortable or she is uncomfortable with them which would be very understandable for a kid so young. I think is just the kids who are making fun of her. Just continue supporting her and love her, she must be going through a hard time. I do not think children lie because they want to, sometimes it is just to protect themselves. Poor thing. You are a terrific mom and she is really blessed to have you. All the best.

Yes, she's told me before that some kids say mean things about her glasses. I try really hard to explain to her that just because some mean kid says something about it, doesn't make it true. I've asked her, "how do you feel about your glasses?" And she loves them, every time. I think if it were a matter of teasing again, she would tell me.

This one is turning out more complicated than previous issues. Her best friend wears glasses and doesn't like her own. I spoke to her mother yesterday, and she said her daughter has wrecked her glasses twice in the past... So, I don't know. We'll just wait and see, and have a Family Home Evening lesson about repentance in the meantime.

Even though she may tell you she loves her glasses, maybe she does not. and does not want to tell you the truth. I personally do not think any child really "loves" his/her glasses. I think they cope with it. In any case, I hope she learns to understand the importance of wearing them and how expensive they are.

No, really. She *loves* her glasses, and has since the beginning. We were at the dentist the other day, and the hygienist mentioned how cute my daughter's glasses were, and that her daughter doesn't like her glasses. My daughter piped right up and said, "I love my glasses!" This was just a few days before she wrecked them.

This is why it's so upsetting to me that she would harm them.
