Hi Roz, I just read your blog. It is insane! I just hate when people take advantage of others this way but let's face it, in this world the people who have a little more money than the rest do it at the expense of others in a lot of cases so I am not surprised at all what you shared in your blog. Unfortunately, more extra hours you work, more sacrifices you make is perfect for them and you DO have a life besides work!

I just wanted to send you all the positive energy you need at this time and just like you was a little scared when you wanted to buy the house, this is a similar situation, go for it if that's how you feel and I KNOW it will work out for you!

What type of business is it? I am VERY excited for you! Keep us update!

I went to my bank today to see about getting some financing for the business, and the young man I spoke with seems very interested in getting involved. He was impressed that I had already done my own research on the small biz website and that I have been doing the books for a year so I know a lot of detail about the business itself.

Tomorrow, I will have lunch with the owners to discuss some more details. You can see their website Here. The site is new and not very good, but that can be changed -- time for us to talk, right, JB?!? Also, there may be some graphic design jobs now and then -- probably not very much money, but I'm not sure? That's something I want to ask the owners about. I thought she mentioned having a freelancer that she pays each month, like a flat rate? But I wondered about piece work? Anyway. Probably too soon to be getting into that.

Really, this is very exciting. Tonight, I'm putting parts of the loan package together for the application and presentation to the bank. It's really really hard not to say anything at work, because I want to talk about it so badly! But it would make some awkward problems I don't need right now if the partners knew of my plans. So. Mum's the word, and all that, until I have things finalized. I have to be really careful on facebook, too, because several family members of the partners are on there.

It's an exercise in patience, humility, prayer, and diligence.

Your in my prayers as well. I believe that getting out on your own and getting the money coming in your way is going to be a positive thing for you. Plus as things come out of the recession your going to be in much better place.

Wow Roz, I am so sorry to hear about your business but you know what? I was not totally surprised, people in general don't have honor, don't have "word" (like in the old times), it seems to me though he just used you (for free) to work hard in the business and do the work he didn't for a long time and then decided to give you the goodbye. It is more shocking for him to even say he hopes you continue advising him? *shaking head* Sorry but he has no shame! I literally HATE people taking advantage of others this way!

Well, all I can say like my grandmother used to say. Today a door is closed, tomorrow one WILL be open and probably bigger and better than the one that closed today.

Well that bites. Can you do a hostile takeover?

I think that if you went out on your own you may be able to work in a more user friendly environment. I am not sure if you should continue to advise this guy. It sounds like he does not know much about what he is doing.
