With five kids yes I have now that the youngest is 16 and driving we are getting more intelligence back. IT is a slow process and so far most of the kids do not smoke or drink. The girls still dress semi modestly but after they start buying their own clothes you have to relax the bar a little. Having the values set into them they do not go much below the bar you set before they turned 16. Hang in there it is not easy and you will butt heads a lot but you can prevail.

Farseer, I just finished reading your blog and I was shocked!

The interesting thing about the whole ordeal with Social Services in the US is that we have discussed this many times in our forum!

If I ever move back there, I am terrified of what could happen. Having kids with autism who scream at the top of their lungs like if someone is abusing them is a truly scary thought in a US-scenario.

Wow, is there a chance at all that whoever called got second hand information? I just don't see why anyone would want to try to hurt you or Julie, maybe she hasn't been honest in all the things she shared with you? You know kids can make up stories just to get attention (and she seems to be going through that kind of phase) and let's face it, teenagers are just unbelievable sometimes! If she was the one making up the story and told a friend, maybe that parent out of concern called SS.

When will you know for sure that the case is closed? Did she "break up" with her boyfriend? I am so HAPPY that you are homeschooling! I think Julie will make terrific progress and get back to her senses! There are days that I wish Felipe can go to school, have friends, etc and then I read stories like yours and I am so glad he doesn't go!

Yes, I think Julie probably was the one to start the stories, and being such a melodramatic teenager I'm sure she embellishes everything that happens in our house. Especially since this whole thing started back in October. Now, was it someone's parent who was concerned enough to do something like this? I doubt it. I think it was a kid, but we'll never know for sure. I'm just glad to get her out from under the full-time influence of kids who don't share our values. Now I have to motivate her to learn something from her mother

The whole boyfriend thing ended after a few days of no phone or Facebook access back in October. He wasn't having any fun anymore, so he dumped her and went back with an ex-girlfriend. Right after he told Julie that he's bisexual! I said, are you kidding? He's 13! He doesn't know what he's talking about. I told her you stay away from anyone who says that to you. They have no boundaries at all, and you can get involved in things that you will have to repent about later. Just say "no" to anyone in that category.

I know what you mean about having special needs kids and the problems with CPS/SS. Some people have no clue and think they are "helping."

From what I understand, there should be a letter sent to me when they finalize the case. I'm going to follow up next week and ask about it.

Are you saying any kid can call Social Services and they will follow through? I understand the child line for kids who are abused, etc but a child calling social services to make a report on abuse? Wow.

I am so glad she's out of that environment, all this happened for a reason and we may not see it now but who knows Heavenly Father tried to protect Julie in case something worst could have happened (I have a few things in mind and I am sure you too!).

Yes, they have to follow through on every report they receive, even if they know it's a kid calling. Because what if they didn't follow up, and something happened that they could have prevented? So I understand that they have to do that, but it seems to me there should be a better system. Parents should have more right to information about the charges and how the process works. And yes, I think that I've saved Julie from a great deal of trouble. I've been talking about homeschooling for years, so now's my chance. I always thought I didn't have a choice, now I really feel that I don't have a choice - I have to homeschool to save her life.
