But passport and document fraud are a big problem with the current system, all people need to do is own the right piece of equipment and the right software and they can steal passports and change the picture quite easily.

With my proposed digital passport, everyone who wants a passport would have to apply in the same way, but to change the picture they would need to upload it and have it confirmed by someone in the passport agency.

For things like a new hair style or something it is easy to see if it is the same person and they would simply not accept the change if they thought it was sombody else.

The reason current passport pictures don't often look like their holders is because over the years you have many haircuts and your face does change, if it was more updated you wouldnt notice the changes.
