How about this. When I was a little girl my grandmother told me that dragonflies would sew your mouth shut if they heard you talking so we needed to be quiet when they were nearby (the long tail looks like a needle). To this day, I am afraid of dragonflies! I know they aren't going to sew my mouth shut, but I am still afraid of them. --> My grandmother was a very loving women and she certainly wasn't trying to be mean, I think she was sharing a story with me that she had been told as a child, but it sure has had a lasting effect!

This is very evident with children. They pick up on the smallest things we do and then act them out. People may silently see us as role models as well so they look to us for certain cues from us that we are unaware but its helpful for them.
