Why does Muslim men not wear gold jewellery or indulge in items labelled as 'luxury itesm'. What is determined to be a luxury item? Does this extend to luxury vehicles and other comforts, or just silk and gold?

Come to think of it I have seen Muslim men and women wearing jewelry. Not in a big way, something small maybe,. Possibly it comes down to what their Imam think is acceptable or a personal decision.
